About Me
I’m Andy Begg, a 3D Generalist and Animator. I create environments, assets, and levels for games, along with pre-rendered videos, VR/AR projects, and motion graphics. Since 2018, I’ve worked across the full spectrum of games and interactive media, from modeling and texturing to rigging, animation, and engine integration. I’m passionate about learning, problem-solving, and continually expanding my skills. I’m open to freelance or full-time opportunities working remotely.
Experience
Spray Paint Simulator (North Star Video Games, 2024): Built environments, props, and vehicles. Set up levels in Unity and optimized them for gameplay. Contract was extended.
Cognitant (2019–2024): Worked on more than 20 VR/AR healthcare projects. Created environments, characters, rigs, and animations for VR training.
Creatives in the Attic (2025): Made optimized buildings and environment assets for a mobile game. Helped set quality standards for the project.
Freelance: Produced VR environments, product renders, and interactive content. I also sell 3D assets on Fab and CGTrader, and some of my work has been featured in a Sketchfab seller spotlight.
Background
I worked in QA for 10 years before moving into 3D in my 30s to make use of my animation degree. I re-taught myself using Blender and other modern tools, and since then I’ve focused on games, VR, and interactive projects.
I studied 3D Computer Animation at James Watt College (HND) and the University of the West of Scotland (BSc).
Main toolkit: Blender, Substance Suite, Unity, Unreal, Godot, Photoshop, Marmoset Toolbag
Also experienced with: Character Creator, iClone, RizomUV, 3ds Max, V-Ray, ZBrush, SpeedTree, Premiere, After Effects, photogrammetry
Personal
I’m based in the Lake District and spend free time hiking, doing photography, and playing video games. The render above was inspired by hikes in Fife, where I used to live. I use inspiration and reference from real life, video games, and film/media in many of my projects.
I also enjoy learning more about game design and programming, particularly in UE5 (Blueprints) and Godot (GDScript).
